Ricky Gervais is to write a new episode of The Office.
He and co-writer Stephen Merchant are planning to produce a new script for the US version of their hit creation.
The NBC network has just commissioned a third 22-episode series of the sitcom. After a shaky start, it has gathered audiences and now attracts around 10 million viewers a week, up 67 per cent on the early figures.
Early episodes were compared unfavourably to the British original, but NBC executive Angela Bromstad says the show has now found its feet after producer Greg Daniels ‘Americanised it’.
Now Gervais’s publicist has confirmed he and Merchant are planning to write a new episode for this ‘Americanised’ version.
Gervais is executive producer on the show and is said to have made more money from the remake than from the original.
Star Steve Carell also recently won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Michael Scott, the American equivalent of David Brent, and also enjoyed movie success with the recent comedy hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
The original version of The Office is shown in more than 80 countries making it the BBC’s most successful comedy export.

| How are they going to drag out the Pam and...the Tim man story out for another 22 episodes? Unless they don't. |

Forget that, More4 show ER every night at 1amishsomething. I bloody love ER, I'm suprised you haven't mentioned it Boncey, it's practically made for the autistics.
I'm aware that you don't actually have any signs of autism, the words just stuck like glue to air. |

| You can't beat a good bit of ER especially now the delightful Parminder is in the show. Sadly though it looks like it's in it's death throes over here and most people watch Grey's Anatomy instead. And that is shit. |

I don't like Parminder that much, don't know why. In the new series on E4 she's getting some monster cock action from Dr Gallant (the Internet has killed me) and Abby is up ye merry olde duffe from Kovac. Abby was always nice but she's definitely gotten better with age-
Yes. Please. |

Crap actress though. She couldn't keep a straight face through any of Liar Liar - and these were the takes they kept in. What were the others like?
Yeah, I'd give her one too. Possibly at the same time as Dan. |
