I couldn't choose a favourite but I can see why people say Clerks 1 is better. Clerks has that feeling of being something different from anything else you've seen, whereas Clerks 2 definitely has more of a "movie" feeling about it. In all honesty though Clerks 2 is probably the more funny/complete of the 2 and it retains almost everything that made number 1 so good.

The animated series sounds pretty good and they're making a film of that next year too!
