Oh god, yeah. The first time I watched that film the guy I watched it with warned me about the rape scene, he said it was pretty shocking and I should keep that in mind when watching. Well naturally, years of Internet has made my threshhold for what's shocking way too high, and I was expecting something really fucked up, especially since this guy wasn't easily shocked either. After the scene I said "I guess it was quite bad, but I expected one of the lads to start working him from the front". He looked at me like I was a complete cretin. On rewatches, it definitely is quite shocking but I can't help but think about the logistics of it. The boy who bums him first goes from normal and clothed to naked and penetrating in a matter of a few seconds, how did he get erect in that time? I suppose you've got to be quick in the rape-game. Don't know why I said that.

I thought it was much worse when he slit his wrists. Wrist slitting makes me squirm nyagrhjhhge.

Some more thoughts on the rape scene- I think you're right. He could well have sat behind the greenhouse fiddling with himself to allow for faster blood flow to his penis once he began to initiate the penetration. Also, while it may seem odd to us that he was able to go from flacid (or, as the case may be, semi-flacid) to erect in a matter of seconds, this is a man who immensely enjoys the conduct of rape, and therefore will naturally be exceedingly excited at the sight of an arse pinned down, ready for buggering.

I had considered that maybe he entered him in a semi-flacid state, but considering the boys age, I'd say that's nigh on an impossibility.
