Wed Mar 07, 2007 9:58 pm   FAO London:

I love you.

Just had a ridiculously mental day (by my standards anyway) I had to go to old laaandaan tan (as they say) for an interview. I stupidly miscalculated how long I'd need for travelling to and from the university once in London so I missed my coach going back and had to buy another ticket for SEVENTEEN FUCKING POUNDS. Ridiculous. Capped off by an unbelievably angry Scot (not so unbelievable) shouting at somebody over...something. You can never tell with them lot. But that was the only down point, because I loved it. The university was amazing, there's rooms full of keyboards, elaborate keyboards, 60s synths, custom instruments (one being a 7" with Scwarzenegger's face on it and when you play it these LED lights come on and it does something, I dunno I was too excited by all the equipment). Then we had an interview and I did very well, the course leader beardy man seemed quite impressed with my wordy-words and namedropping of Resonance FM. Anyway, he offered me an unconditional place! So I'm very happy. And it's really nice and a bit quaint there, even if does take nearly an hour to get to central London from Cockfosters (which, incidentally, I smirked at every fucking time the auto-announcer voice said it. Time to grow up? Nah).

But yeah I really love London, don't know why. Everybody looks miserable, you can't stop without somebody walking into you (something I didn't do, for the record), I paid £1.50 for a small bottle of Pineapple juice, and it's just generally exhausting, BUT something about it is just so lovely. I think it's because it's obvious there's so much more beneath the surface and I'm yet to get to that. But I will now!

I mean y'know, I didn't go and visit the absolute shit holes or anything, I'm sure my opinion might change if I did and got mugged/raped/shot in whatever order. But I....just won't go there. Sorted.

I can't stop typing I'm all excited. I've got a scary amount of financial and room-booking stuff to do before September now, but for the meantime I'm just gonna pretend I don't.

Well done Daaaaaaan!

I'm in London a lot, and people stopping for no reason is a real pain. Glad you avoided doing this.

Kinda skimmed the rest of your post, hope it was good.

Nice one! Cockfosters is annoying. It's right at the end of the line and nobody actually wants to travel there, only away from it. The transport in London is so good though, you'll rarely wait more than 5 minutes for a bus or train.

I'm going to have to demand pictures of the Arnie instrument as soon as you're able.

Yeah I didn't wait more than a minute for a train. The fucking Victoria line going towards Finsbury Park was nearly as noisy as an actual gig. But I love all that rocking motion, even if it does feel like the train's about to derail or explode or something.
