I finally ended my membership at a fitness first gym today. Its taken three years but i did it. Ive been three times in three years, and its cost me 30 quid a month for that period of time. somebody do the math, but i know it probably makes me retarded by default

The reason why i didnt quit sooner was cos i didnt realise you could end it by mail, i always assumed you had to go in and sort it out in person. and i wasnt gonna do that, because for anybody thats ever joined a gym, theyll know the members are all fanatical about it, and it really would have been like that freinds ep where chandler cant quit because they keep wheeling out the fit women/maniacs to get him to stay. Thank fuck im out.

plenty of cash for subways now, get in

As you were

Firstly, yeah, you're a complete idiot. Secondly, I didn't realise people actually joined gyms and then didn't go. I honestly thought that was just a sitcom thing.

I can believe it.

I'm a bit amazed that you had the membership for 3 years though before you cancelled it. Think of all that money you could have saved. 30 quid a month!. Man alive they must've seen you coming...(fnarr fnarr!)

It's quite amazing the kind of games your mind plays to give you an excuse not to exercise though isn't it.

We have a membership for a swimming pool here and it costs several hundreds of dollars per year. We aim to go swimming at least twice a week and we usually do to be fair. But some of the ways we rationalise NOT going when we're not in the mood are tissue thin. "it's pretty chilly out and we don't want to have to walk around with damp hair and catch a cold afterwards...let's give it a miss tonight" or "we need to get home and feed the cats" are the most used ones. :|

I had a gym membership but didn't go much, although it wasn't too expensive what with it being an off peak one with me being unemployed at the time or something. Which I guess made it more expensive.

They knocked down both swimming pools in Watford. Now I go jogging and listen to music. I honestly find it a struggle to not stop if while running I see a cat.

You really are a disturbing individual.

Similarly, I just realised chappo's been uploading all those asian girl pics to his own image hosting account. You must have fucking loads in there!

It's only about 2 quid to go swimming isn't it? Unless it's a massive olympic pool or something. I used to be great at swimming but I realised since I've come here that I'm ridiculously unfit. I can just about manage one lap and I'm absolutely knackered.

I was always afraid of going to the gym because I knew I'd get coerced into a grueling schedule, and end up having to lie my way out of it or just move to another town. I had a similar problem with my Final Fantasy 11 online account though, it was being paid for and the only way to cancel it was to ring them up but I hate doing that so it took about £120 out of my mums bank before a year passed and it closed itself due to inactivity.

Aye. It's about $350 for both of us to swim for a year. And it's $5 each a throw normally so we do get our money's worth if we go twice a week. We often go 3 times a week. It is an olympic size pool but not the full length of it is available for lap swimming. But it's still a fairly big size. We usually swim at least 20 laps each time we go....more at the weekend usually We go straight after work cos if we went home and sat down we'd never ever get motivated to get up and go and swim later.

I much prefer going swimming to being in a gym full of poseurs and getting all hot and sweaty....yuck! The swimming (plus medication) has done wonders for my blood pressure though I'm back to normal numbers now and the doc is well chuffed with me! :)
