Watching an episode earlier where Simon Amstell was a guest just shows how funny Mark Lamarr was compared to him. Lamarr is just amazing, Amstell still seems to be getting to grips with the autocue.. ?

i think they're both good but i definitely prefer lamarr. which episode did you see? because amstell has grown into the role. i went to some recordings for his earlier shows and he was really nervous, kept getting the autocue wrong etc. he's different to lamarr but i think he was a good replacement.

Lamarr was always quality, especially in the sophie ellis bextor slating days but i cant watch the ukg2 reruns for some reason, amstell seems the way forward.

I used to really like Amstell on Popworld, he was virtually the only person treating vapid pop stars with the ridicule they should be able to take.

But on Buzzcocks he's just not right. He's in the same position as before, ie taking the piss, but it's too matey (except Preston obviously) I prefer Lamarr being genuinely hateful and unafraid to really piss people off. Actually, a lot of people reckon he got worse in the last few series because he just gave up, but if anything I found that funnier.

Still, Phil Jupitus eh, vot is point.

yeah, his intolerance is hillarious... amstell seems too wooden. he's had two glory shows: the donny tourette one and the preston one. but neither have me laughing my arse off like the repeats of lamarr. why did he leave, anyway?
