May be of interest to Dan...

The Beatle internets have been a buzzing about this for the past week or so. I've only just managed to sit and listen to these tonight. These recordings are suspected to be taken from 4 track tapes from the Sgt Pepper album. That is they are the multitracks that were used to mixdown to the finished album. Where these have come from is a bit of a mystery.

Discussion about the possible origins here :

The recordings in the torrent were taken from an mp3 stream from some internet radio stations that played the tapes on air...so the quality is not wonderful (there are a few drop outs in the stream) but it's pretty amazing to hear. Apparantely the DJs mixed the 4 tracks "on the fly" adjusting the levels of each track as they saw fit. The results are pretty impressive. Elements of the tracks that were omitted or buried in the mix are revealed. eg- A Harpsichord playing on the intro to A Day In The Life, Some extra string sections that were cut out of She's Leaving Home etc. As well as some isolated vocal tracks revealing how beautiful the harmonies are.
This is possibly the first "new" unreleased Beatles stuff that has appeared for some time. So if you're an anorak like me you might want to put this on CD and have a little wank over it:

here's the torrent:

I've basically got four days from tomorrow to rape the bandwidth at home before I come back to university, so I might just stick it on. That site has a lot of Dylan stuff, but a lot of it is 90s/00s live boots and to be honest, from what I've heard, 90s Dylan is always drunk or out of it and 00s Dylan is just a wreck on purpose. But there is some other great stuff on there.
