haha i'm not going anymore. although i did tell my parents and relatives i was and booked a month off work (they essentially told me if i left i wouldn't get my temp job back) and gave my landlord my 1 months notice (anticipating i'd go to oz, love it and not return) but then i woke up and realised what an idiotic idea it was so instead i've been looking for somewhere else to rent and found what seems like a too good to be true deal in twickenham which i hope i can move into this week.
going to amsterdam again instead! everybody come.
danster, what's going on? my friend is having uni problems at the moment. part of me is glad i didn't go because it does sound like alot of grief. i met a spanish girl who goes to middlesex uni on friday and thought of you! |

It's not really the university itself, it's just that my anxiety problems and OCD are getting way out of hand, and at the moment I'm barely able to function in day to day life. I could theoretically finish this year off if the course leader wants to be lenient with me, but I don't even think I'll last until May without going completely insane or running away somewhere.
so it's yet another setback. i'm off home this week or next week to go on a cocktail of medication and attend group therapy. with a bit of luck, i'll be well enough to come back to uni this september. |

| bugger, that's a bit shit :( uni's are quite lenient in your first year though aren't they? can you try and keep up with the work from home or something? my friend (that also goes to middx) moved out of his dorm after a month because he hated it and has just rented a house in wood green with some mates and seems to enjoy it alot more now. |

the halls really are absolute shit. the more i think about it, the more i realise what a rip off they are. i'm out in zone 4, in a reasonably run down area (there was a shooting the other day, in fact) and the halls themselves are so old, they're being completely done over and turned into offices next year.
and for all that it's like £94 a week. i could rent a room in notting hill or wimbledon for that price. |

yeah that's a rough area. you could easily get a room in a house share for that much, almost certainly less. for £100 odd quid you're looking at a double bedroom at least, and possibly an en suite bathroom, etc. you have to find your own place in your second year anyway don't you? it might not be a bad idea to sort it before then just to give yourself a headstart because everybody will be doing the same thing in 6 months time. i'm looking forward to getting my own place. i like my independence, just not the people i'm currently living with. dorms sound like fun but i suppose it all depends on who you end up sharing with. i've heard nightmare stories but some people love it. it doesn't really appeal to me though.
the first year of uni sounds like a bit of a doss anyway so i'm sure you can get yourself sorted without falling behind too much. my friend hasn't been to a lesson in 4 months and is confident he'll be alright. |

nah, i'm leaving now and coming back in september to start the first year again.
the first year is easy, but even if there was no work at all it wouldn't really change anything. i mean, unless the university actually let me work from home, I don't see it being a possibility.
but yeah i won't be coming back to the halls. definitely will be a shared place. incidentally, bonce said he might be moving down to london this september, so me and him could share a flat. the dream of the clique live-in sails on.
i think you can only really enjoy the halls if you're 18 and you've never been out of your parents supervision before. the first few weeks is full of people going apeshit because they're not used to the freedom. then everybody calms down a bit. |

halls are a funny place i think everyone just tries too hard at the beginning and then it dies down a bit. today i invited people to my flat at the pub and watched fist of fun, and out of seven, three people stayed til the end, we watched both serieses, it was a good day.
