We went to see this the other night and it was very good. I've never been much of a fan of Joy Division or New Order but I'm always interested in music biopics. This one was pretty intense but slow paced - not in a bad way. It was really beautifully shot...looked amazing. Very good at putting you in the mid to late 70's and early 80's. The actor that played Curtis was uncannily like him. The other actors that played the rest of Joy Division were amazing too and they all played their own instruments on the soundtrack.

I don't think I've ever been in a cinema that was so quiet and still when the credits rolled, no one moved or spoke for a good 10 minutes. It was pretty powerful stuff at the end...but handled very subtley.

Ultimatley sad film but worth seeing if you are in any way interested in Curtis or Joy Division.

i once had an idea for a character that leaves the cinema 5 minutes before the end to avoid the rush (like people do at football games)

imagine every film you've ever seen, but now forget the last 5 minutes. can you imagine that? imagine how different your life would be.

I was with the actor who played Curtis (Sam Riley) on the night before his screen tests for this film. He was completely mental - refused to let anybody sleep as he snorted line after line. And he had a very aggressive girlfriend. This is probably putting me off watching the film because it was almost a disturbing sight when the morning after when we woke up, he was still up on his own begging us to join him when we were all ready to go home (I was in Leeds).

That is all I have to add to this topic. Sorry.
