I gotta come up with a music vid for a mate's band. Can do anything I want to, which is terrible as I have both a million ideas and no ideas.

If anyone can think of anything they'd like to see then let us know. The only rule is that it won't have the band in.

I realise I'm not telling you anything about the song, I will later, but any raw ideas right now would be awesome.

just have a loop of partridge playing the air guitar

the idea i had in media that quickly got shot down was a music video showing the instruments making their way to the gig. it was for the radiohead song electioneering, so basically didn't have any reference to the tune at all.

here's a good one - film yourself walking around tesco and doing your shopping, then put it in reverse.

similar scenario. film yourself eating spaghetti, reverse it.

run a bath with bubbles in it and film it, then reverse the bath running, and the bubbles disappearing. it'll look amazing!

ill think of some more at work tomorrow, that don't involve reverse footage (technical jargon)

How about you just film a jar of Mayo for the length of the song? In tribute of the absolutely excellent: Wacky Delly

Of course that's a terrible idea, but it's an idea.

It's two and a half minutes.

Forget about the budget, let your imaginations soar, I can always just animate the thing. But I'd rather not.

film a sunday league game and focus particularly on one player like that zidane film does, and mix in some footage of massive crowds at huge footy games to give the impression that the game is his stage and how he expresses himself, and then at the end use some bleak imagery as he goes to the pub and has a sunday roast, before visiting his mum who is in care, and right at the end he tops himself

Basically they want a vid for every song on their new album - the singles vids are the ones that will have the money, the song I'm doing is just an album track, hence them letting me do whatever I feel like, hooray!

How about following one of those office cleaning crews around and filming them doing their jobs cleaning toilets and dusting etc. But you could give it some soft focus, sepia tone and slow mo and present it like what they are doing is an artform (maybe it is?). So the sweeps of their brushes are like the brushstrokes of a great painter. Maybe have them eventually come around and surrounding the band and dusting and brushing their instruments while they're playing ....sweeping the guitars and drums away...that might be a bit too cliched though.
Mind you judging by the nature of the bands music it probably wouldn't fit the tone of the songs.

I finally settled on an idea, whereby a guy's girlfriend runs off with a pilot, so he decides to build a flying machine and jump off a cliff.

I'm hoping all them big bands will all have their vids on mtv anyway. I hope. I sincerely think the My Device video is awesome. One of the best I've seen.
