Last night at the 'Grill Rooms' on Regent St. I was queing at the bar, and he was stood next to me. So I started talking to him by simply turning to him and said, "So, did they really put you in a grow bag?" He laughed and said it was true. Then I thanked him for The Office and said it had kept English lessons amusing by quoting it all the time. I said I could never do the dance, and he said he couldn't either. He said he had his own dance, but it was more horizontally challenged. I said I hadn't had a chance to see Extras, he told it was pretty good, but the second series was better. Those three minutes of joy were then interrupted by Carl Barat of Dirty Pretty Things tapped him on the shoulder to offer him a shot of vodka and I just had to make do with my friend who I was with in the less-successful Libertines offshoot band. (But in my opinion, better, and I'd had traded his company for a bit more Merchant)

My only regret was to ask him about his ten second cameo in the new series of '24', but I didn't think of that until I was hungover this morning. Still, nice bloke. And the tallest person in the entire room, too.

Not really meant to be name dropping with Barat, but I did find it amusing those two were all pally... I've seen him at another one of Barat's girlfriends night (last night one was on hers too) so I think they must be mates already, which is just an odd pairing, that's all. Other than that, not sure what else I dropped except A BOMB OF EXCLUSIVE COMMENTS FROM MR S. MERCHANT HIMSELF!!!!!

(not to be taken seriously this last part, my own sense of humour dissapointing all there)
