So crazy call from a guy I've built a couple of sets with in the past, and in short I'm off to Ireland to build a stage for this festival:
http://www.electricpicnic.ie/flash.html
Which I then get to hang around for, for free!
So what should I do/take? I will be in a tent, but in some separate 'workers' bit, with slightly nicer toilets. Most of the time I'll be in a muddy field with everyone else, so what's good/bad?
Also, are there any not so well bands there that I should check out? Hot Chip and Jarvis Cocker are the two stand outs for me, but any of the ones that I won't have heard of worth seeing?
To save a bit of time, I know I should take wellies and nothing I wouldn't mind losing. _________________ My music video (again) |

That's a pretty good lineup, actually. Sonic Youth are playing Daydream Nation from start to end at the roundhouse next week; really wish it was next month (I wanted sadface, but it seems this forum only supplies "very sad or crying". But yeah, Sonic Youth are probably great but I dunno if that's your thing.
Ohh, also on that lineup, Polyphonic Spree. See them. |

oh! being the neurotic gal i am, i actually made a list in a word format to pass on to anyone who asked me this question, to make things easier! be prepared, this is ultra girly and i was travelling with just guys so my job was to make sure i had everything pharmaceutical, and they job was to hunt and beat their chests.
Tent, Sleeping Bag, (Inflatable Pillow if youre fancy, the ground is hard)
Good shoes (wellies or boots, anything you can live in for days)
Toothbrush,Toothpaste
Wetwipes (big pack for a washing substitute and toilet ones - they do these in packs of ten, theyre great for portaloos which are gross)
No Germs Gel (if you're paranoid about germs)
Padlock
Plasters
Savlon,Anti bug bite spray/cream
Sun Cream
Deoderant/Bodyspray
Moisteriser
Waterproof bag (plastic bag to out dirty clothes and rubbish, bin liner.. to sit on if it gets wet)
Most importantly travel light!
and also important.. booze (not in glass bottles, mind)
and cash in a good hiding place cos you dont want it to get nicked but queues for cashpoints are sooooo long. |

It looks like a really good festival, Elliott. (although £220 for the punter? Christ)
Here's my reccomendations;
Friday: Bjork/Modest Mouse/The Good The Bad And The Queen
Saturday: Beastie Boys/Chemical Brothers/Jarvis/Polyphonic Spree/!!!
Sunday: Iggy/Primal Scream/The Go! Team/Beastie Boys/The Fall/Patrick Wolf/Unkle
I've been to a few festivals and never bought anything with me. Last year at Reading I got caught out on the last night, lost on my own, with no credit trying to find my friends campsite completely pissed off me 'ead, and sleeping in an empty tent with nothing but a random top hat (not mine) to use as a pillow while it chucked it down. _________________ it took me three attempts to register here. |

only 220 euros ronnie!
(still 150 proper money, reminds me i gotta get some tmo)
Thanks and thanks you two.
As I'm working there I'll have to take a few extra things, but being in a separate bit to most should be a bit nicer. Still know very little about this job, such as whether I'm getting paid, but am looking forward to this loads.
Pics and all will be here in a couple of weeks.
Oh, also, go and see Knocked Up. It's funny and has a proper plot and characters you care about. I was shocked in the pub afterwards when I realized I'd just seen a rom com! _________________ My music video (again) |

Without sounding like a cunt, I've only slept in hospitality areas at festivals so I'm not sure what it's like to sleep with the regular punters (I'm put off by the stories though) but I'm sure you'll be lucky enough to spot a few Z-list celebrities camping out in your area too - they usually chuck everybody in the same bit... the amenities are still pretty limited though.
And Euros? What are they? _________________ it took me three attempts to register here. |
