Ricky Gervais’s record-breaking podcast is to be turned into a book, The World According to Karl Pilkington.

The bizarre exchanges between Gervais, his co-writer Stephen Merchant and producer Karl Pilkington will be collected into a £10 hardback to be released in September.

------

Christ, its getting silly now. Karl is going to be rolling in it soon. I wonder if he'll turn to crack and eventually commit suicide. I can't really see him becoming just an average celebrity, with occasional television or panel show guest appearances. I wonder if he was as stupid as we all thought, all those years ago?

Ugh, I'm passed caring these days. Gervais and Pilkington are a lost cause, have you watched Gervais's Simpsons episode? Dire.

Actually, that's not true about Karl, he's got a permenent slot with Russel Brand on 6 Music on Sundays, so that's good.

I saw that the other night actually (quite by accident cos I don't usually watch The Simpsons). I thought it was pretty funny.

His character was far too Brent-ish. It's a bit unfair to say he was exactly like Brent but the humour was really similar, even down to the shifty looks, awkward trailing off and acoustic guitar singing bits.

But ultimately, I just didn't find it very funny. Probably not helped by the excruciating storyline that you'd expect from The Simpsons these days.

I haven't seen it but I've heard the same criticism. Isn't the storyline something about Homer and Marge doing a wifeswap? I thought the Brentesque character was intentional. To be honest I don't watch the Simpsons anymore, its crap.

On Gervais's podcast last week he kept hinting about this book of Karl's quotes suggesting somebody start writing one and saying "I don't know who's writing this book" in a smug way. The cheeky fuck! :x

Nice. I listened again to the one from around Xmas time yesterday. The farmer bit is class.

Argh, this is a bit annoying actually. Have a look at this.

http://chortle.co.uk/news/april06/gervais810401.php

I like Gervais, but he has to be one of the most 1 dimensional comedians around, surely? I actually bothered to watch Meet Ricky Gervais earlier, 'cus I'd downloaded it before but never got round to it and its really good, but almost all of the jokes are stuff he later used on his standup, and on XFM. He thinks hes some sort of comedy god, just because hes a bit big in America!

Some of the scenes in Meet Ricky Gervais, with Merchant as the pervy boss are a bit disturbing.

I said it a little while ago but those Merchant/Gervais sketches in Meet Ricky Gervais are fantastic.

He really is annoying me now. Not because I don't agree with what he's saying but because he's got the nerve to have a go at British comedy for being lazy and unambitious when he hasn't told a new joke since 2001. Argh. (you know what I mean).

He seems to be forgetting that America is fucking huge and the UK is a tiny island, does he really think that we can produce that much good comedy with that many consistent writers all year round? Probably not and neither can the US, they've got some great comedy but for every good thing there's abouyt ten shit things. For proof of that just watch Paramount during the day. Besides, these 24 writers in a room setups are flawed - you get more decent gags a minute than any other programme, yeah, but you usually end up with it being fairly generic because there's no real personal warmth to the show. Ironically, the US Office has more depth and character emphasis than UK Office ever had (see: the christmas episode from series 2, brilliant)

Between him and Alison fucking Graham, I want to stab clothes pegs into mine eyes.

I also recently downloaded Meet Ricky Gervais. Its ironic that Gervais finds that one of the most embarrassing things he's ever done.

The fact is, he's getting so far up his own arse he thinks he's right. Its because he's run out of his own material that he's decided to outburst at everyone else.

And don't get me started on him charging for the podcasts.... :x

Yeah, but Ireland is connected to us via a piece of string, it's a loophole you backwards Beamish drinking toothless simpletons have missed.
