I'm not sure whether I'm pleased or upset that I have no idea what any of this means.

One of the ambulance technicians who was involved with the aftermath of the injury, also expressed his thoughts on the incident.

Keith Bringley said: "When they got the sock off, it was clear that he had an open fracture. His bone was sticking through the skin and his leg was in an 'L' shape.

"It had looked like a straightforward break but he was in too much pain for an ordinary break.

"We administered a painkiller and they had to get a translator out on to the pitch because the lad doesn't speak English.

"We put a vacuum splint on it to immobilise him and gave him oxygen once he was on the stretcher.

"We knew it was serious because he went straight by ambulance to the Selly Oak trauma unit while normal football injuries go from here to Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham."

Sky match director Grant Best, who made the decision not to show a replay of the injury to viewers, said: "The reaction of Cesc Fabregas told me it was a bad injury so I quickly looked at the replay.

"That told me it was a very bad injury and we weren't going to show it. It looked like his foot was hanging from his leg.

"It is the most horrific injury I have seen in 13 years of working in football and it reminded me immediately of David Busst's injury."

David Busst was a Coventry City defender who suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in a collision with Manchester United defender Denis Irwin during a match at Old Trafford in April 1996.

The leg break was so bad that the bone pierced the skin and Busst's blood had to be cleared from the pitch.

He never played professionally again. United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, who witnessed the injury, required counselling afterwards.

Our thoughts are with Eduardo and his family. We wish you a speedy recovery.

i was at the game, Fabregas looked devastated. what with him and Ronaldo being out potentially forever its all a bloody shame. I think Eduardo is the best finisher since Ronaldo in his heyday, i really hope he gets back playing again, let alone to the standard he was at now

he's the coolest finisher i can remember in a long time. arsenal released a statement today claiming he'd be back by christmas which is amazing if true, considering the state his leg was in. it's going to be a long road to recovery but he seems quite upbeat about it. apparently he can't remember very much of it which is probably a good thing.

you've got real problems up front now, van persie needs to not only come back but get in form again, because Bendtners not in the same league as Adebayor, Eduardo or RVP, and you know united wont drop many points from the remaining games. Adebayopr was shit against Birmingham, and by all accounts wasnt great against Milan either. if he falls out of form, i dunno where your matchwinning goals are coming from.

CHIN UP

i didn't think we'd win anything at the start of the season and i still don't think we will, though we've done fairly well considering how everybody wrote us off after henry left. i'm still convinced adebayor isn't actually that good and is just extremely fortunate but he's been banging them in so fair play. rvp & rosicky are permanently crocked, walcott isn't good enough for the first team yet, bendtner looks decent but isn't up to the level yet, gilberto is useless, fabregas isn't looking the player he was earlier in the season and the back 4 seem fairly solid but senderos (who has been impressive recently) always looks like he's one step away from a calamity of bramble proportions. i just can't see wenger strengthening in the summer regardless of where we end up. he has faith in people like traore, denilson, hoyte & co.

flamini is probably gonna leave too. we'll end up top 3 at least.

Watch the greatest footballer of our generation cynically wipe out his son to stop him scoring. we'd all do it
