I used to work in a hotel so I "met" quite a few "famous" folks...Branson was one ...he he...funny story there. We didn't know who the hell he was and just gave him a reg. room...until the concierge freaked on us and ran up after we checked him in going "do you know who that was???" - oops...he got upgraded...whatever!!! Seriously...he didn't have a res. or 'nuthin...usually when some bigwig came rolling in we knew days in advance...got their fake little names and all that ahead of time...met their manager.
Let's see - "met" N'sync (and as much as I wanted to hate them they were actually quite down to earth)
Brian Setzer (who was super cool and chatted with us)
Black Crows
Yes (this was a personal highlight for me! )
Bobbi Brown (didn't recognize him in person)
And some others I can't even think of...
You know one thing I have found to be universally true...famous people are always MUCH smaller in real life then you would have imagined. Discuss... _________________ Android thus disabled... |

To be fair Branson does own his own island. He can basically do what he wants.
My auntie is an air stewardess and shes met alot of celebrities. She maintains they are very small as well, but its all subjective. If you met John Malkovich and Kramer, that'd blow the argument out of the window. _________________ Carlton Palmer doing his impression of a man with brain damage |

I don't think famous people are generally shorter. I think it's because everyone has this pre concieved notion of superiority and so with that, you expect them to be tall because we associate height with superiority.
Maybe. |

Bono is a real shortarse in real life. That's why he wears those shoes with the big thick soles.
But yeah I think you're right Dan it's people perceptions of celebrities being "larger than life" that means they can never live up to that image.
Plus when they are on camera you see them from all kinds of weird angles etc...it's deceptive.
Prince is a strapping 6 footer in real life I hear. _________________ "For all his horses, knighthoods and championships, he hasn't got two of what I've got. And I don't mean balls!" |

Ellen, you are forgetting a brief encounter with Indie cult figure Ronnie Joice. That'll be something to tell the kids about. _________________ Carlton Palmer doing his impression of a man with brain damage |

| bit late now but last friday's serious about comedy (bbc 7 comedy discussion show hosted by robin ince) had watson on as a guest and he explained the onstage accent. For a bit of defense as a character persona, to set him apart from other acts and also because it's just plain funny |
