...or anyone else who likes/loves Pixies.

But I remember mentalist saying that he liked them.

Yep, a few questions. Best album? I know it's the obvious choice but I'd have to say... the best of the pixies. Hilarity aside, obvious - but Doolittle. It's a bit tamer (no pun intended) but the songwriting is fairly consistently superb. Actually, I say it's tamer but Debaser is obviously one of the most intense things they ever put to record. Oh and Hey is possibly my favourite Pixies song.

But yeah, Surfer Rosa is close behind, infact there's not much in it really.

But I'm slowly developing a bit of an obsession with Mrs Deal

Her voice makes me actually swoon. Especially on the live version of Gigantic from the live album. I'll upload it tomorrow.

Grr sex.

Grr Pixies.

Excellent.

Pixies? Isn't it? Marvellous.

Yes, I was a big fan of lumberjack shirts in the early nineties and would have to say Pixies just edge my fave band.

They played the best gig I ever saw, at the Mean Fiddler in 1991. It was the end of a hectic european tour and this was a hastily arranged warmdown gig for those in the know Pixies fans. It was a side stage with a capacity of 200. Can't remember how we got tickets, I think it was through a friend of a friend.

The atmosphere was unlike any other gig I've ever been to. They started their normal set and then after a couple of songs Frank said "Fuck it, let's do a few requests" so the fans got to hear stuff like the Radiator Song, Wierd in my School and my favourite Tony's theme. Just pure magic.

It's difficult to say what the best is. I understand why people say Doolittle, it has so many classic tracks on it. However I think, Come on Pilgrim is about as good a first album I've ever heard.

Daaaaaan - if you love Ms Deal (As I do) then check out her other stuff with the Breeders and the Amps. Simply wonderful. I wanted her to have my babies even though she smoked (and used Heroin).

Honerable mention also for Frank Blacks stuff - I've been listening to Honeycomb and there's some good chill out stuff on it.

They're all great, but I probably prefer Surfer Rosa over Come On Pilgrim, probably over something as little as Carbou, of which I've never been a big fan of. Trompe le Monde is fairly underrated I think, it's up there with Bossanova.

As for the none Pixies stuff, I've got The Breeders stuff. It's alright, but to be fair I haven't given it a proper chance yet. I've got Teenager of The Year but that's it from Frank's solo catalogue. I like that, the songwriting stays strong for the most part but it lacks something that you get from Pixies.

Frank has an extensive solo career including stuff as Frank Black and the Catholics. There's probably another 10 albums knocking around. I know what you mean about Pixies stuff being stronger though. Some of his "solo" work has included Santiago/Lovering and it's generally sharper.

Agreed that Trompe le Monde is underrated.

I just love virtually everything the Pixies ever did, and that's a rare for any band to be able to achieve.
