about one month ago i got a taxi from east london to north london where my ex-girlfriend lives. i was drunk and tried to scam the minicab driver as my ex-girlfriend lives in a mews so he can't neccessarily see which house i'm going into. stupidly, i'd asked to borrow his phone beforehand to actually call her to tell her i was on my way (she was not very pleased). when i got to the road she lives off, i told the driver i would just go and get the money from her house and then come outside. he did not trust me, asking me to give my phone and the five or so pounds in my pocket as a deposit. i said that i didn't have one. he said he'd seen it. i said i wouldn't leave my phone behind and offered an expired cash card. he said he wasn't allowed to take that. so then i just grabbed my bag and got out of the car. as i did this, he was quick enough to reverse back, trapping my right foot underneath his tyre and grabbing my bag. i started screaming. i was in complete agony. "YOU'RE BREAKING MY FOOT! YOU'RE BREAKING MY FOOT! GET OFF MY FOOT!" ... the driver then reversed over it EVEN MORE. sick. completely sick. i continued to scream even louder and a black cab was driving past and stopped. somebody got out of the taxi towards me and the minicab driver panicked and drove forward enough for me to release my foot, grab my bag and just run for my fucking life. i was panting so loudly, so scared. i didn't even stop to thank the man for saving me, i just ran for my life. i got inside my ex-girlfriends flat and shut the door. i was hyper-ventilating. it's the scariest thing in the world, that. god, i was crying and shaking and rocking and just in complete agony, pain, shock and horror. she comforted me and tried to work out if my foot was broken or not. he had tried to call her, as he now had her number. his voicemail said that i was a "very nice man but it's how i make my living and he must pay me". i had lied to my gilrfriend saying we'd had an argument about the fare, that he'd decided to hike it up at the last minute. i was so scared and upset.

story over. my foot continued to hurt for days. but now it's been weeks and my ankle feels completely and utterly twisted. it goes numb regulary and always clicks and just feels painful. i've even started to learn to live with the pain. i think i need to go to the hospital sometime soon, as i think i've badly damaged it. especially as i've left it this long without treatment. shittt.

does anybody know how much it costs to get some shoes soled, and how long it takes? i chose this thread because it wasn't worth maing my own, and shoes and feet are closely linked

Soled? Like replacing the soles? Why would you do that unless you have really expensive shoes?

i wasn't sure if soled was the correct term. basically the rubbery stuff at the bottom has started falling apart and now when i walk it's really loud, like what a woman in heels sounds like. i'm essentially down to a layer of wood

What shoes do you have? I expect it'd just make more sense to buy a new pair. I'm gonna buy some new shoes next week, probably Converse fucking all stars again. That's all I ever buy, I just literally can't like any other shoe.

just a pair of bog standard loafers from clarks. it'd probably be cheaper to buy a new pair, if this resoling business is a regular fixture. i'm at the stage where i hate all of my clothes again. why aren't we all wearing aluminium jumpsuits yet? science fiction has alot to answer for

Jerry was bang right on that one.

Every time I think I'm happy with my clothes I instantly get bored.
