I haven't ever done a facebook account and don't intend doing one. I've got a myspace and that has just got a bit annoying but it has got me in touch with some folks that I haven't heard from in ages...so that's pretty good. I'd rather go out and have a proper conversation with someone face to face like the old days though.

I remember I once was bored at work and went a browsing through Facebook and it depressed the hell out of me. Almost every profile I saw was typed in that kind of typing with all "teh" deliberate spelling mistakes and text talk in it and shite. And the bit the really made me lose my will to live was where it says "Favourite Book" and almost without fail the people answered something along the lines of "As if I read books, it's gay" or "Fuck off I don't read no gay books". Like being caught with a book was the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Fucking morons! I don't know, the fucking state of the world eh? We need another World War to mix things up a bit I think...sort the wheat from the chaff! Colours were brighter back then.

You know never to talk to anyone who puts "The Da Vinci Code" in with their favourite books.

I've got a friend who has Lost In Translation as one of his favourite films.
For that, he is a cunt.

What's wrong with Lost in Translation? Don't say it's racist or patronising, because it quite blatantly isn't.

It's dull and unoriginal.

And you know what's trickier than not hearing the chat at the end - writing that conversation! Lazy lazy lazy.

No, writing dialogue for that scene at the end would have spoonfed a predictable and cliched romantic ending. That's not what the film's about.

It related to me because it's exactly what a holiday romance is. It's two people taken out of their regular lives and allowed to live in a brief moment of fantasy to escape the mundane trials of ordinary life. It probably would never work in the real world, but the extremeties of the situation of being in a hotel in a foreign country not knowing the language or the culture brings two people together. I had a holiday friendship once and I was gutted once we'd come home and I was never to see my friend again. But did I get over it? Yep. And would we have been mates in the 'real' world? Nope, doubt it. That's what I found so special and novel about the film. Yes, it's annoying we don't hear what they say to each other at the end, but it would only give the film even more of an anti-climax. I also love the twist when he sleeps with that random woman and Scarlett (mmm) gets upset. When all along, she's still got her boyfriend, and will continue to. Ever been in a relationship and you're gutted somebody you like aswell has suddenly hooked up with someone? In reality, you're with your partner and you love them - you're sorted, you're not going without and it's selfish... but there's that little bit of secret lust inside you going, 'what if'? I love that.
